Dropping the shine changes the character completely. Avery SW900 805 Metallic Silver in the Satin finish shows its flake as a soft glow instead of sparkle, and the colour reads a touch warmer than the gloss version. Sun gives it a brushed-metal feel from a distance; in shade the surface looks almost like primer-grey aluminum.
Performance sedans and coupes with sharp body lines benefit most, since the low sheen lets creases define the shape rather than reflections. The film forgives small surface imperfections better than a gloss would. SW900's cast construction handles compound curves on bumpers without the flake distorting.
