A fleet wrap is judged on the twentieth vehicle, not the first. One van is a design job. Twenty is a logistics job: the same color, the same logo height, the same panel breaks on every model in the fleet, installed without taking the fleet off the road for a month. That is the whole difference between a wrap shop and a fleet partner.
Below is what that actually involves, and where the cost and the time go.
What makes a fleet wrap different from a single vehicle?
Consistency, and it is harder than it sounds. A mixed fleet is rarely one model. A Sprinter, a pickup and a compact car have different panel heights, different door seams and different places where a logo can live without landing on a crease. Each one needs its own template while the brand has to read the same from two lanes away.
That is why a fleet job starts with a measured template per model and a printed proof, not with a logo dropped onto a photo. Get it wrong and you do not have one awkward vehicle, you have twenty.
Can a fleet be wrapped without taking it off the road?
Yes, and for most working fleets that is the only version that is realistic. We wrapped twenty vehicles for Intuit TurboTax in four days, entirely on site across Los Angeles, as part of a national rollout of around eighty vehicles. Not in a showroom: in a hangar, with the crew working in shifts around the vehicles that were still needed that day. A misprinted graphic showed up on the final day and was reprinted and fitted before the deadline.
On-site work changes the planning more than the installation. Temperature, dust and light all matter to film, so the sequence is built around which vehicles can be released when, not around what is convenient for us.
How long does a fleet wrap take?
A single van is typically two to four working days once the design is signed off. A twenty-vehicle fleet with a team on site is about four days in total. The honest limit is not our capacity, it is yours: how many vehicles you can release at once. The detailed breakdown sits in our article on how long a wrap really takes.
What does a fleet wrap cost?
Per vehicle, a full commercial wrap runs in the low thousands of dollars and drops meaningfully per unit as the count goes up, because the design and the print setup are paid once. Partial coverage, where the branding sits on the doors, rear and lower panels, can cut that significantly and still read clearly in traffic. The ranges per vehicle type are in our breakdown of truck wrap cost.
Unlike paid media there is no monthly invoice afterwards, but a wrap is not permanent either. Plan on a film life of several years, longer on vertical panels than on a roof or hood that takes direct sun.
Materials, and why they decide the fifth year
We work with cast films from 3M, Avery Dennison and Arlon, printed and laminated in house. Cast film is what allows a graphic to follow a rivet line or a door recess without lifting at the edge later. Calendered film is cheaper and shrinks back, which is why a bargain fleet wrap starts curling at the corners in its second summer. 2wrap.com covers one full year on the installation and on the color as our own warranty, alongside the film manufacturer’s material warranty.
Small fleets count too
A full-size van in pink for Pizza Girl, a female-founded pizza brand opening its first restaurant in Venice Beach, carried bold branding, the social handles and a QR code. One vehicle, parked most evenings outside the restaurant, doing the work of a billboard it could never have afforded. A PopRak commercial Sprinter is the same idea for a different trade.
Frequently asked questions
Is a fleet wrap cheaper than other advertising?
Measured per impression over several years, usually yes, because the cost is paid once. Measured in the first month it looks expensive. It is a capital purchase, not a media budget.
Will a fleet wrap damage the vehicles or affect a lease?
On sound factory paint, no. Film is removable and leases are commonly returned after removal. Check the lease wording first, since some agreements ask for written approval.
Can we add vehicles to the fleet later?
Yes. The templates and print files stay on record, so vehicle twenty-one in two years matches the first twenty instead of being approximately the same color.
Can you wrap a fleet in Europe as well?
Yes. The same files, films and standards run from our Belgian studio in Weelde, which is how a brand operating on both sides of the Atlantic ends up with vehicles that actually match.
Partial or full coverage?
Full coverage changes the color of the vehicle and reads as a brand asset. Partial coverage puts the message where it is seen, at a fraction of the film and labor. For most service fleets, a well-designed partial wrap outperforms a weak full one.
